Presentations
and talks about Samaritans
Presentations and talks
Samaritans is keen to make people aware of the service
and support that it provides to people experiencing feelings of distress or
despair.
Samaritan volunteers are available to give talks to clubs, societies,
schools, education providers and health care staff.
Talks can include:
- A
brief history of Samaritans as an organisation
- Statistics
on suicide and use of the Samaritans service
- Examples
of the sorts of situations that may lead people to use the service
- How
the local branch operates
- Volunteers
– requirements and training
Talks can last between 20 and 50 minutes depending on
the requirements of the group, including time for questions.
A short video or PowerPoint presentation can also be provided.
There is no charge for having a speaker from Samaritans, although
contributions to the running costs of the branch are always welcome.
